She opened up the book and looked at there old pictures. She remembered the way he would caress her cheek. She knew he was a liar and a cheater. A jerk who only cared about himself. All he cared about was drinking and hanging out with his friends. She always felt like she came in second best to him.
One night he came over and told her how sorry he was. She took him back once again and fell into his strong arms. She loved the way he smelled. The way he held her. She felt safe when she was in his arms. When she was alone she felt so depressed. She knew that he was no good for her but she loved him since she was 15 years old. he was her first love.
They say that your first love is the strongest love you ever have for someone. She never thought she could ever love anyone else like she loves him.
Even though he would make her cry and all the lies he blatantly told her like she was a fool. Many times she felt like she was a fool for once again trusting him only to be let down time and time again.
Then one day she met someone else. He had been her friend for years. They had grown closer over the years and he didn't like the way she was being treated. He finally let his guard down and told her how he felt about her. She always had a crush on him because he was adorable and charming. In many ways he reminded her of her love. But, secretly she knew she was falling in love with him too.
She said she would give him a chance to prove his love for her and to be her knight in shining armor. He swept her off her feet and she was head over heels in love with him. She finally had the courage to leave the guy that had always mistreated her with his words and actions. She felt free for the first time in a long time. In this freedom she learned forgiveness. She no longer held onto the hardness that was in her heart for so long. All the tears had made her jaded and she finally knew she could let it go. Forgive and remember only the happy times but not ever go back to him. To make a new life with her knight.

Hello.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Romantic Friday Writers.
Ah...the power of forgiveness. We don't realize how much of a burden we carry around until we let it all go by forgiving the one who has wronged us.
Nicely done.
Forgiving yourself for moving on from a bad relationship is very hard. But self acceptance is a part of relationship growth.
ReplyDeleteAn excellent narrative Christina. I got a good sense of the betrayal this poor girl has felt, and the lengths she had to go to let herself believe in herself again.
A beautiful, sympathetic character.

I love the resolve to remember the good so that memories of brokenness don't mar her new love. Great entry.

ReplyDeleteHi, and welcome to RFW!
ReplyDeleteThe hardest thing is to forgive someone for betrayal of trust and one's love. This piece encapsulates the MC's hurting, yet as happens with time and new-found love, old hurts fade and better ones flood the mind.
Nicely written. ;)

Greetings, Miss C. Is this your virgin post? Very nice. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt might be easier to "hook into" this if you gave your characters names early on. At least, for me - I like names, even if it's Dick and Jane and Sally. (And love #1 truly sounds like a Dick to me.)
This sentence is a bit clumsy: "She never thought she could ever love anyone else like she loves him." My suggestion - She thought she could never love anyone else like she loved him.
So glad you're writing with us, look forward to reading more of your work.
I'm so glad she was able to forgive and then to move on.
ReplyDeleteGreetings, nice to meet you. I enjoyed your story. The human heart struggles with forgiveness and if the right motivation comes along we can take that hurtle to release our anger. I thought you captured this well.
